Play Words is a new resource that has been designed to support vocabulary development through play. The ability to communicate effectively is one of the learning outcomes from the EYLF and underpins some of the other learning outcomes. The CD contains a collection of resources that can be adapted and used in many different ways to encourage vocabulary development through play.  It contains: 

Teaching tips for vocabulary development 10 colour posters for the classroom The posters provide a snapshot of the vocabulary associated with a variety of play activities and experiences. The posters focus on nouns, verbs and adjectives. The nouns and verbs are shown as two groups:  one being the more familiar, everyday words, which children may have already heard or used and the other being the more abstract, unfamiliar words, which may be new to many children.  A general handout for parents The handout describes why a rich vocabulary is important and some strategies to support vocabulary development 10 parent handouts that provide suggestions for developing vocabulary skills within different play based activities
